Sir Alex focused on Basel

Sir Alex has warned that United are not taking anything for granted ahead of the Champions League tie with Basel.

The Reds reached last year's final and are strong favourites to win Group C, even though Thorsten Fink's team currently sit proudly at the top of the table.

Although United are expected to collect three points from the Old Trafford clash, the Swiss champions are in good form and certainly merit plenty of respect.

"It's European football and we never take it for granted," he told MUTV in tonight's Match Day Live programme. "Our home record has been great for a few years and we'll look to maintain that.

"Whatever my team will be, I'll probably make two or three changes, nonetheless we should win this match and put ourselves in a good position for the double-header with Otelul Galati from Romania.

"We'll have an opportunity to get to 10 points and I always talk about that because it guarantees progress into the next stage. Obviously we want to win the group, that's always been the case, but it's important, first of all, to get to 10 points and get into the knockout stage. That's when this tournament really takes off and it's fantastic excitement after that."
