Loans: King opens account

Joshua King scored his first-ever senior goal before setting up a late winner as Hull City beat Middlesbrough 2-1 to end a run of five Championship losses.

Fresh from Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Millwall, the Tigers upset the odds with a come-from-behind win over Boro to boost their play-off hopes on Bank Holiday Monday.

Marvin Emnes gave the Teessider’s the lead before King riffled in after the break. The young midfielder then supplied the cross from which Matt Fryatt secured a first win in seven for Nick Barmby’s side, with just two minutes remaining.

Robbie Brady, who was named on the bench for the weekend defeat to Millwall, reclaimed a starting place against Middlesbrough but was substituted with the game level on 77 minutes.

Elsewhere, Oliver Norwood helped Coventry City secure a 2-2 draw with Peterborough on Saturday as he continues to impress for the Sky Blues. The 20-year-old was unable to prevent his side losing 3-1 to Bristol City on Monday, though.

After the match, Norwood explained why he’s benefitted from the loan system: “I will be going back to United a better player,” he said. “You can only learn from playing 15 games in the Championship.
