Loans: Bruce lauds Brady

Elsewhere, Fabio once again came off the bench for QPR as the Hoops recorded a first victory of the Barclays Premier League season with a 2-1 triumph over Fulham at Loftus Road. The flexible Brazilian full-back replaced Shaun Wright-Phillips with 86 minutes on the clock.

Joshua King played a full match and was yellow carded as Blackburn went down 2-0 to fellow strugglers Blackpool. After the match, ex-Red and current Rovers boss Henning Berg said: “All our players tried their best but when you are lacking in confidence you become indecisive.”

In Belgium, Luke Giverin endured a disappointing day as Royal Antwerp conceded a last-minute goal during a 2-1 defeat at Eendracht Aalst in the Second Division. Once again, Gyliano van Velzen was a second half substitute, this time entering the fray after 74 minutes.

Jesse Lingard was an unused substitute during Leicester’s 1-0 defeat to Millwall while Reece Brown missed out on Coventry’s shock 4-1 win over Doncaster. Similarly, neither Sean McGinty nor John Cofie featured for Carlisle or Sheffield United.
