Loans: Bruce lauds Brady

Robbie Brady’s creativity earned praise from manager Steve Bruce after Hull City sealed a 2-0 win over Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield.

For 81 minutes, the Republic of Ireland international was the chief architect behind much of the Tiger’s forward play and almost netted a fine solo goal just after the half-time break when his low drive was well-saved by goalkeeper Alexander Smithies.

Victory moves Hull up to joint third alongside title rivals Middlesbrough and after the match, ex-Reds defender Bruce commended his team’s dominance and invention in the final third.

“I’m glad we can talk about the game. The better team won by a million miles,” Bruce told Hull’s website. “If there’s an Achilles heel for us, it’s the amount of chances we create week after week - our conversion rate has to be better.

“I was delighted with our performance. It was embarrassing the number of times we got in behind them with Brady and Elmohamady, but we couldn’t convert to make it comfortable for ourselves. Our goalkeeper barely had a shot to save and in a big derby game, fair play to us.”
