Vote: Man of the Match

Manchester United retained top spot in the Barclays Premier League after beating Reading in a dramatic seven-goal thriller at the Madejski Stadium.

Although the Reds were slightly fortunate to seal victory after the Royals scored three avoidable first-half goals to force yet another thrilling victory, we’ve produced a four man shortlist for our Man of the Match award.

Wayne Rooney was, of course, a standout performer, scoring twice whilst assisting Robin van Persie, who finished with great composure. The Dutchman was also wrongly denied a second goal by the linesman, who claimed his shot did not cross the line.

Ashley Young, operating alongside Rooney and van Persie, also produced an impressive performance and looked particularly dangerous on the left flank, where he was aided by the commendable endeavours of stand-in captain Patrice Evra.

As always, the Man of the Match award will be decided by your votes at
