Vote: Player of the Month

Entertainment hasn't been in short supply with United in December: seven matches; 17 goals scored, 11 conceded; two 4-3 victories; and of course the dramatic 3-2 win over Manchester City.

But the question is: who has been the Reds’ star performer this month? We've whittled it down to a shortlist of four; here's a quick recap:

Robin van Persie is perhaps the obvious candidate with his match-winning goal against Manchester City still fresh in the memory. But the Dutchman has been consistently brilliant throughout December, scoring five goals and generally exuding confidence and class.

If one player defines excelling without grabbing headlines it’s Michael Carrick, who has been supreme at the heart of United’s play. Influential against Manchester City, he ran the show in a scintillating first-half against Sunderland. He assisted goals for Tom Cleverley and Robin van Persie in that game, as well as Javier Hernandez’s winner against Newcastle.

Patrice Evra joins our four-man shortlist having performed well and having scored twice this month. In the past that might have been equivalent to a lottery win for the Frenchmen, but he is fast becoming prolific. His point-clinching header at Swansea was followed by a goal in the madness of Boxing Day’s 4-3 thriller against Newcastle.

The Swansea game was an off-day for Wayne Rooney, but otherwise he's scored five goals in December and produced some of his best football of 2012. He started the month with a brace in the 4-3 win over Reading, followed by two brilliantly-taken finishes against City and a goal against Sunderland.
