Manchester United ended the calendar year with two goals and three points - and there are five men on our Man of the Match shortlist after the 2-0 win over West Brom.
A coveted clean sheet - only the fifth of the campaign for the Reds - was secured with captain Nemanja Vidic leading by example at the back. The Serbian made some crunching challenges and headed numerous balls out of the box to impose himself on the proceedings.
Patrice Evra also played his part in helping keep things tight and defended with plenty of intelligence and diligence. The full-back rarely misses a game but he was his usual energetic self despite the tacky surface.
In midfield, Michael Carrick and Tom Cleverley combined well and particularly impressed in the first half. Some of the duo's passing was very pleasing on the eye and they will be difficult to leave out at Wigan Athletic in midweek.
Finally, we've opted for Ashley Young to complete our list of candidates ahead of several other players - including goalscoring substitute Robin van Persie, who wasn't really on the field long enough to qualify. England winger Young set up the Reds' first goal - turned into his own net by West Brom defender Gareth McAuley - and forced Ben Foster's best save as the former United goalkeeper tipped his drive onto the bar.
