Although it was a less entertaining affair, Evra believes there are many positives to be taken from the victory over the Baggies, most notably the fact that United kept a clean sheet for just the fourth time in the league this season on a boggy Old Trafford pitch.
“I think it was an unbelievable game against Newcastle but West Brom was more about not conceding a goal, producing a solid performance and keeping a clean sheet with three points,” Patrice explained.
“This was very important and to be fair, I have not seen a bad pitch like this for a long time and it was not easy for us to play. We had heavy legs on a heavy pitch, but I am very proud of my team-mates because we won and that is what is most important.
“For me, the best we have played [this season] is Newcastle away but a clean sheet is good for our confidence, although I am more worried about winning games than conceding goals. I am a defender and I don’t like to concede goals, but it is not only the defence which plays, it is about the team.”
