Valencia and Carrick were both restored to midfield for United's last away match and to great effect as the Reds beat Manchester City 3-2 in their own backyard. Evans and co are clearly targeting something similar at the Emirates Stadium.
"We felt quite confident going into the City game," reflected Evans. "Obviously before the match some people were looking back to our 6-1 defeat but although City deserved to win that day, the scoreline didn't really tell the true story because it suggested a gulf in quality between the teams.
"We knew we could go to their stadium and beat them. Obviously getting the win made a big difference to us and Paul Scholes coming back as well gave everyone a lift."
