30/6/2012: The back-page lead in the Daily Mirror is a story suggesting United want to complete a £15million move for Everton left-back Leighton Baines before flying out on tour next month. The Toffees are said to be demanding at least £20million. It's also added that Sir Alex is resigned to losing out in the chase to sign Spurs' Luka Modric.

29/6/2012: Marca claims Chelsea are set to enter the race to sign Luka Modric and could offer around £36million for the Tottenham playmaker. It's reiterated that Spurs would rather sell to a club outside of the Barclays Premier League. Real Madrid, PSG and United have also been linked with the midfielder, who impressed at Euro 2012. The Evening Standard believes supposed Spurs boss-in-waiting Andre Villas-Boas will prioritise Joao Moutinho of Porto as Modric's replacement.
