Loans: Norwood nets again

Oliver Norwood scored his second goal in as many games to boost Coventry City's Championship survival hopes with a 2-0 win over Portsmouth at the Ricoh Arena.

The United midfielder, fresh from netting a stoppage-time equalizer against Cardiff last Wednesday, smashed home from close-range on 77 minutes to seal an invaluable victory.

Manager Andy Thorn praised the contribution of Norwood and Alex Nimely, on loan from Manchester City, after both contributed heavily towards Saturday’s triumph.

“They are both a credit to their clubs,” Thorn told the Coventry Telegraph. “They are good lads who have fitted in really well and are great in the dressing room. They are playing a full part in this, just like the lads who we’ve brought through our own ranks.”

Elsewhere, John Cofie scored as Royal Antwerp lost 2-3 to AFC Tubize in Belgium. The young striker pounced in the opening minutes of an accomplished display, which was later marred by a bizarre incident with opposition boss Dante Brogno.

Thomas Kuszczak played 90 minutes for Watford as they recorded a fifth successive win over Ipswich.
