The two men who contested the goalkeeper's position at United last season, David De Gea and Anders Lindegaard, were both unused substitutes for their national teams. De Gea was in the dugout as cover for Iker Casillas when the European Championshp holders Spain beat Serbia 2-0 with goals from Adrian Lopez and Santi Cazorla (penalty).
Meanwhile Lindegaard could only look on as Euro 2012 hopefuls Denmark lost 3-1 in Hamburg to Brazil. Thomas Sorensen was beaten twice by Porto forward Hulk and also conceded an own goal by Niki Zimling, all before the interval, and although Nicklas Bendtner pulled a goal back in the second half, the Danes were comfortably defeated.
