"Rio should have another couple of years left, I would think. And as you do that, [Wayne] Rooney gets more experience. We're not short of it. Whether we can get a Giggs or Scholes, which club would not want to have that? But it's difficult to think you can get a Scholes or Giggs. They're not falling off trees, that's for sure."
One thing that is for certain is Manchester City look set to maintain their position as the biggest spenders in the market.
"No-one can match City's financial power," he added. "No-one. We have to accept it. Shall we do it a different way? Obviously we'll look at younger players with the potential to develop within the club because we're good at that, so we'll stay with that."
