Sir Alex has title hope

Sir Alex Ferguson hasn’t given up hope on landing another league title – his 13th, United’s 20th – although he admitted Manchester City are well and truly in the box seat.

The Reds beat Swansea 2-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday to keep pace with City on 86 points at the top of the Barclays Premier League table. Crucially, though, the Blues boast a vastly superior goal difference (+63 to +55).

Next week, City entertain relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers at home in the season’s final game, while United travel north to Sunderland.

“You have to think there’s still hope,” Sir Alex told MUTV. “QPR have to go to City and survive. To stay up in the Premier League they need a point.

“Of course, City are favourites – there’s no doubt about it. The crowd will be behind them, they’ll be into the referee as they were against us. They’ll be doing their best to win the game.
