Young is delighted to be back in action after a frustrating two-month spell in the treatment room. The winger returned in last weekend’s win at Chelsea and he’s thoroughly enjoying being part of a side so fluent in attack.
“It’s brilliant to see us scoring so many goals. As a winger that’s what you want, you want that freedom to go and attack and destroy defences,” he added.
“When you’ve got players in the team like we’ve got with so many different options it’s amazing to see. I certainly wouldn’t want to be a defender when you see the different combinations we can have! It’s always nice when you have so many different options and when we attack we always look like we’re going to score.”
The man who has found the net more times than anyone else for the Reds this season, Robin van Persie, comes up against his former team on Saturday. And Young has nothing but praise for the contribution the Dutchman has made already this term.
“Robin is a world-class player - he’s in the team to score goals and that’s exactly what he’s doing,” says Young. "His all-round work-rate and his effort on the pitch are fantastic and he’s scoring goals. He’s someone who can link up with any of the players and he’s been brilliant since he arrived.”
