Loans: Lingard reveals aim

Jesse Lingard, who came off the bench for Leicester in an entertaining 2-2 derby draw with Nottingham Forest, is hoping to follow in Tom Cleverley's footsteps.

The youngster made a positive impression after replacing David Nugent in the 58th minute but Michael Keane missed out after returning to Manchester for treatment on a hamstring injury.

"I look at Tom Cleverley and what he has achieved, becoming part of the United first team, and he had his first loan move to Leicester," Lingard told the Leicester Mercury. "He stepped up and it would be good to follow in his footsteps.

"He is someone to look up to because, when he was younger, he was one of the small guys, like me. He didn't get much playing time in the youth team but he went out on loan, stuck at it and worked hard, and that is what I want to do."

Ben Amos featured in Hull City's 2-1 defeat to Cardiff with Robbie Brady replacing former Red Paul McShane in the second half. Despite making a string of saves, Amos was blamed for the opening goal and boss Steve Bruce revealed to the Hull Daily Mail: "Ben's form is typical of a young player. Do we look to protect him because he's a young lad? That's something we'll have to look at in the week.
