Anderson eyes Newcastle repeat

Anderson is hoping for another crack at Newcastle United on Sunday, having unlocked the Magpies' defence in last month's Capital One Cup victory.

The Brazilian made the all-important breakthrough just before half-time at Old Trafford with a stunning strike from outside the box. But while the Reds went on to win 2-1, Anderson is not expecting to win the Goal of the Month award on

"As everyone knows, it was a long time since I had last scored," Anderson told, casting his mind back to Norwich in October 2011.

"So my goal against Newcastle was good for a beginning, a good start, for this season. It wasn't a classic Brazilian goal, it was more like an English goal - a shot from outside the box. I had a look and tried a shot, it was a great strike.

"I think Rafael is going to win [Goal of the Month] though, because his was a nice goal [at Anfield], it was class. His one looked like a Brazilian goal!"

Even though the Reds clipped the Magpies' wings in the last meeting, Anderson acknowledges Alan Pardew's side are a force to be reckoned with.

"Newcastle have some very good players and we know they can be dangerous if the ball's high up the pitch," the Brazilian warned us.

"We must try to keep the ball and not give away many fouls or throw-ins because if they counter-attack, they can score."

If Anderson is selected on Sunday, it will be only his second league start of the season - having previously kicked off August's home opener against Fulham. But after being named in the Champions League eleven away to Cluj in midweek, he
