Jones wants to add goals

Phil Jones has his first Premier League winner's medal to collect in May and high praise ringing in his ears - but like a true champion, he still wants to improve.

Specifically, the all-action defender, who has excelled in a midfield role of late, is seeking to add goals to his game. Jones has a zero against his name in this otherwise impressive second season and he missed two opportunities to rectify that with headers in Manchester United's pulsating 1-1 draw at Arsenal.

"The first one was easier, I think I should have put that one away," admitted Jones on MUTV.

"The second chance was a bit more difficult. If it had been in the air for a couple more seconds, I might have got on the end of it with a cleaner connection.

"Scoring goals is probably something I need to work on. Hopefully I can get one before the end of the season."

Jones had mixed feelings about the draw at the Emirates Stadium, a result which ended the champions' hopes of achieving a record Premier League tally of 96 points. He felt the outcome could have been worse based on the early action, better on the evidence of the latter stages.

"In the first half, I would have said a point was a good result," he said. "But having seen what we put on in the second half, I thought we carved out a lot of chances and we're disappointed not to have come away with all three points.

"Full credit to Arsenal, they took us by surprise and came at us all guns blazing in the first 15 to 20 minutes and we couldn't really get a grip on the game. But I think once we got on the ball with Michael Carrick, Wazza (Wayne Rooney) got in the pockets [of space] and we got the ball wide to Nani
