That support from the home crowd will be essential in overcoming Chelsea but Vidic says that the players are already pumped up to prove their pedigree.
"We can't wait," he tells United Review in an exclusive interview. "Chelsea are always a tough team to play against. They have a new manager and some new signings, they're excited as well for their season. But I'm looking forward to it to test myself, to test the team and see where we are at the moment. We're all looking forward to it."
Moyes received constant support throughout United's league-opening 4-1 win at Swansea City, but when the Reds walk out on home turf Vidic expects that to be amplified exponentially.
"It's always nice to walk out at Old Trafford in front of 76,000 people, our fans," he adds. "I believe it will be a great atmosphere and it's a night game as well - that always makes the atmosphere even better.
"We have great support, not just in terms of shouting and singing the songs, but I believe Old Trafford is a positive ground - you always feel like the fans are behind you. That's important for the players to feel like that because then we can show what we can do."
