"Certainly, in the first half, I thought Fabio Borini bullied the two centre-backs and spoke to them at half time because he could have scored several goals. But I look at it as a team performance and we started off with some decent football. We took the lead with a great goal from a good move and our second goal was the same.
"However, if you look at the goals we've conceded, they are down to poor individual errors. One or two lads played well and I thought gave a good account of themselves and showed the new manager what they are about. But I'm disappointed in a lot of the players and disappointed for them as well because several of them can do a lot better than they have shown tonight."
One definite positive on the evening was the venue as 1,745 fans clearly enjoyed the game at the impressive Salford City Stadium.
"That's one of the better things about the night," admitted Joyce. "It's a decent pitch and a decent venue. We had one or two people watching and would obviously like one or two more here to give a different atmosphere for the boys but that was okay."
