Wayne Rooney scooped Manchester United’s man-of-the-match award after an eye-catching display in the goalless draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford.
Playing in the hole behind Robin van Persie, Rooney dictated United’s attacking play in his first start of the season as the home support bellowed his name throughout.
The 27-year-old picked up a resounding 89 per cent of the thousands of votes from fans on ManUtd.com and Twitter, with skipper Nemanja Vidic second after his dominant display at the back.
Patrice Evra shone at left-back as United’s defenders limited Chelsea largely to long-range efforts and the Frenchman was the third candidate on the shortlist selected by Reds legends and MUTV pundits Lou Macari and Gordon McQueen.
Van Persie was the man of the match at Swansea last week and fans can contribute again in the next fixture away at Liverpool on Sunday.
