Wayne Rooney picked up the Man of the Match accolade for his performance in Manchester United's 3-2 win over Hull City on Thursday afternoon.
The striker produced another talismanic display, capped by a stunning volley as the Reds came back to triumph at the KC Stadium. As a result, a massive 80 per cent of fans voting on United's official Twitter account @ManUtd singled out Rooney as the Reds' star player.
"Wayne Rooney was great because he had to do two or three different jobs," said United manager David Moyes in his post-match press conference.
"It was his 150th Premier League goal and to score it with a nice volley like that was great, it was well taken. The pressure he put on the boy for the own goal was also good. He got the ball wide and then got into the box.”
Darren Fletcher received 12 per cent of the votes on his first start for over a year, and Ashley Young polled 8 per cent as the two other players nominated by MUTV pundits Lou Macari and Arthur Albiston.
