David Moyes delivered a message of thanks to Manchester United supporters ahead of the Reds' final fixture before Christmas Day.
Writing in his exclusive column for United Review, the official match programme, the manager cited last Sunday's trip to Villa Park as evidence that the Reds are, as ever, receiving excellent backing on the road. But Moyes is also very appreciative of the reception he has had and continues to have from the vast home crowd in Manchester.
"Your support has been great ever since the first day I walked out here at Old Trafford against Chelsea," said the manager. "I thank you very much for the support you showed after the recent game against Newcastle. Myself and the staff understand that we need to get back to winning games here more regularly. We are all determined to get ourselves back into the race at the top of the Premier League."
The Reds swept Aston Villa aside 3-0 on their own turf last weekend with United's travelling fans in full voice. Moyes said: "I’d also like to say a big thank you to our brilliant support who travelled to Villa Park - you are doing the team and club proud. The reception given to the returning Darren Fletcher, not just from United fans but all sides of the ground, was also greatly appreciated."
