Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez says Angelo Henriquez will offer the Latics “something different going forward” after the Chilean striker made an impressive debut on Saturday.
The United youngster, on loan at the DW until the end of the season, came off the bench during a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth in the FA Cup third round and almost scored, heading against the bar to highlight an impressive display just seven minutes from time.
After the match, boss Martinez was delighted with his much-rotated team, who will now contest a replay at Dean Court ahead of a possible fourth round meeting against non-league Macclesfield.
“Some of the youngsters today showed me that they are ready to have a bigger role in the first team and that was a big purpose in today’s game,” the Spaniard told Wigan’s website.
“On top of that we had Angelo Henriquez make his debut and in time I’m sure he’s someone who will give us something different going forward.”
