Preview: Liverpool

Date, time and coverage: Sunday 13 January, 13:30 GMT. The match will be shown live on Sky Sports in the UK. You can also follow the action live via ManUtd.com’s radio and text commentary.

Form guide: Manchester United are in fine form ahead of Sunday's huge game, having won 17 of 21 Barclays Premier League matches this season and drawing just once. Sir Alex Ferguson's men are also top scorers in the division with an impressive haul of 54 goals, 20 more than the Merseysiders have mustered. Brendan Rodgers’ side are enjoying a decent run themselves, however, after recording consecutive 3-0 league wins over QPR and most recently Sunderland. The Anfield outfit are also boosted by the arrival of Daniel Sturridge - signed from Chelsea earlier this month, the striker scored on his debut in last Sunday's FA Cup victory at non-league Mansfield Town.

Betting: Rio Ferdinand has scored more goals against Liverpool than any other club, so why not back him to net the first one on Sunday at long odds of 41.00 with bwin.

Ins and outs: Sir Alex will hope Wayne Rooney (knee) is fit, although the boss said last week that the former Everton striker is unlikely to be ready. Anderson and Nani are both back in training but remain doubtful, while a decision must be made on the fitness of captain Nemanja Vidic, whose sharpness improves with every outing. Sturridge could be handed his Liverpool league debut while fellow striker Fabio Borini remains unavailable. Rodgers will also be without full-backs Jose Enrique and Martin Kelly.

Last meeting: Robin van Persie's late penalty sealed United's 2-1 victory over 10-man Liverpool on a poignant afternoon at Anfield, where the Hillsborough victims and families were remembered in moving scenes before kick-off. The Dutchman's spot-kick and a sublime strike from Rafael were enough to overturn Steven Gerrard’s volleyed opener.
