Boss: Evans misses Spurs

Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled Jonny Evans out of contention for Manchester United’s clash with Tottenham in the Barclays Premier League on Sunday.

The boss confirmed the Northern Irishman is not yet match fit after sustaining a hamstring injury during the 2-2 draw with West Ham at Upton Park earlier this month, but otherwise has a full squad at his disposal ahead of a tricky trip to White Hart Lane.

Crucially, several players were handed some much-needed game time in Wednesday night's FA Cup third round replay with the Hammers and are now available for selection, providing a welcome boost for the Reds.

“We've got a strong squad. Jonny Evans still isn't available,” Sir Alex explained during his weekly press conference at Carrington. “He's not 100 per cent. Other than that, we're not too bad. We got a lot of players a game on Wednesday and I thought they did well. It was a good performance.”
