Chicha wins Wigan gong

Javier Hernandez has a new reason to love playing against Wigan Athletic - he's been named Man of the Match for Manchester United's victory over them on New Year's Day.

The Mexican international took his tally in Latics clashes to six goals in six games with his pair of clinical finishes separated by half-time. Chicharito also helped to create the first part of Robin Van Persie's double, providing his strike partner with an intelligent pass just before the break.

Sixty per cent of fans responding to's online poll picked Chicharito as their star man, while Van Persie finished as runner-up with 29 per cent. Jonny Evans' part in United keeping a clean sheet at the DW Stadium was acknowledged as he claimed third place, ahead of fellow nominees Rafael and Ryan Giggs.
