Rio Ferdinand is relishing another titanic battle with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The centre-back was outstanding in the 2-1 win at Anfield last September and is hoping the table-topping Reds can complete the double over the Merseysiders.
"I would say it is the fixture we look forward to first," he explained. "The rivalry runs deep. Liverpool have not been up there fighting for the championship but the fans and the players are well versed in what this means to us as a club. I always enjoy playing against Liverpool, either at Anfield or Old Trafford. Hopefully this is another good, exciting and winning occasion for us.
"It is special [against Liverpool]. You look back over the years and see what has gone on before I came to the club. Whilst I have been here there have been loads of great moments. You just want to add your name and be a part of a team that adds to that long list of events that have gone on."
Ferdinand is enjoying the busy fixture list with a tough trip to Tottenham to follow next weekend after Sunday's clash and a midweek FA Cup replay with West Ham.
"When you are at Manchester United, that is part and parcel of being a player," he explained. "You have to be ready and willing to play games twice a week. It is normal procedure for us. We are happy with that. The more competitions we are in, the happier we will be. Long may it continue but we are not looking beyond Liverpool."
