Moyes responded to speculation over Rooney's future insisting the striker will be staying with the Reds and added that he has been extremely impressed by the England international's commitment in training since returning to work this week.
"I've had a chance to speak to him and Wayne is not for sale. He's a Manchester United player and will remain a Manchester United player," Moyes told reporters at a press conference on Friday.
"I've known Wayne since he was 16 and I've had several meetings with him. He's training brilliantly well and he's come back in good shape. I look forward to working with him.
"I've said to him, "Whatever happened before has gone, Wayne. We're working together now," added Moyes.
"I see a glint in his eye at the moment. He looks happy. It looks as if he's saying he's going to knuckle down and get things right. I'm looking forward to working with him. I want to reiterate: he is not for sale."
