De Gea reaches semi-finals

David De Gea kept another clean sheet as Spain’s Under-21s reached the semi-finals of the European Championship with a 1-0 win over Germany in Israel.

The Manchester United goalkeeper was rarely tested in a match decided by Alvaro Morata, who came off the bench to drive home a late winner for the second successive game, having netted in Spain’s opening 1-0 win over Russia.

The result confirmed Spain’s progression to the last four alongside the Netherlands and those two sides will meet on Wednesday to decide who finishes top of Group B.

De Gea’s semi-final will be on Saturday against either Norway or Italy, the two sides who have progressed from Group A at England’s expense.
