Veseli enjoying new role

Frederic Veseli admits he is enjoying playing in a new midfield role for the Under-21s.

The Swiss youngster arrived from Manchester City as a defender but has filled a number of positions for Warren Joyce's side and has been anchoring the midfield in the past couple of games with Tom Thorpe reverting to the heart of the back four.

After playing alongside Anderson in the goalless draw with Wolves at Moss Lane on Monday, Veseli told MUTV about his development at United.

"I've played in the middle of the park for the last two games," he said. "It was really good playing with Anderson as he's a class player and I think you can learn a lot from playing alongside him.

"It was good experience, of course, playing in that position and I think I've proved I can play there as well. I can play in many positions to help the team in any way possible.

"I really enjoy it as I get a lot more of the ball. I've got more of a defensive role in midfield so you get to do both sides of the game, which I can always improve on. It's a good learning process because you have a different perspective of the pitch and can see different things and different angles which will help me as a defender as well." 

Coach Warren Joyce was disappointed with the team's inability to break down 10 men after Zeli Ismail's early dismissal.

"Obviously the sending off made a difference in the game," Joyce told MUTV. "They've got to do what they have got to do and it was up to us to be more creative to break them down. We had two easy chances which we failed to capitalise on.

"If the one goes in before half-time [by Anderson] then it makes it a difficult night for them as they have got to change their game-plan. 

"We couldn't score because we weren't clever enough around the box and didn't have enough quality in the last pass,
