Preview: United v Chelsea

Date, time and coverage:

Sunday 5 May, kick-off 16:00 BST. Live on Sky Sports in the UK, you can follow it on ManUtd.com with text and radio commentary.

Form guide: Some fans thought the champions would step off the gas for the rest of the season but they couldn’t have been more wrong. United were well up for the fight against Arsenal last weekend, flying into every challenge during a feisty 1-1 draw that was preceded by a guard of honour. Chelsea are still battling for Champions League qualification as they face the Reds for the fifth time this campaign and will seek at least a repeat of their impressive display at OT in the FA Cup.

Ins and outs: Sir Alex has promised to field his best team out of respect for teams still competing for Champions League places but he is definitely without Danny Welbeck and Ashley Young. Paul Scholes could be among the subs after recovering from a knee problem. Opposite number Rafa Benitez has a virtually fully fit squad with only John Obi Mikel (hip) and Oriol Romeu (knee) unavailable through injury.

Betting: There is some value in bwin's outright markets with United to win priced at 2.15, Chelsea at 3.10 and the draw at 3.50. Feeling more adventurous? Back Robin van Persie to score a hat-trick or more at 26.00.

Last meeting: Less than 48 hours after securing a pivotal 1-0 win at Sunderland in the league, United headed to Stamford Bridge for a gruelling FA Cup quarter-final replay. Predictably, there were tired legs on show and, as a result, the Reds suffered a slender defeat due to Demba Ba’s fine solitary goal.
