Roy Hodgson has heaped praise on Wilfried Zaha, tipping the 20-year-old to enjoy a successful career with both Manchester United and England.
The young forward was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in January this year before rejoining Crystal Palace on loan until the end of the season, which climaxed on Monday with the Eagles securing promotion to the Barclays Premier League via a dramatic play-off final win over Watford at Wembley.
England manager Hodgson is confident the PFA Championship Player of the Year will shine in his new surroundings at United and take full advantage of the club’s famed aptitude for nurturing young players.
“I like Wilfried Zaha,” Hodgson told The FA's official website. “He is a good player. I went to Palace not so long back to have a look at him and of course he now has a massive move to Manchester United. It seems to me he is on the threshold of something big.
“He will be given the opportunity. When a club like Manchester United is prepared to pay a lot of money for a player, because they will help them to win things, it is a tremendous boost to both confidence and ego.
“As coaches we can't do any more. After you have lit the touch paper, all we can do is sit back and hope they buzz.”
