Petrucci out to impress

Davide Petrucci is relishing the chance to play for former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at Royal Antwerp, who is coach of the Belgian side.

The talented Italian linked up with Antwerp on loan during transfer deadline day, following in the footsteps of the likes of Jonny Evans, John O'Shea, Darron Gibson and Phil Bardsley. Luke Giverin and Gyliano van Velzen were with the club last season.

"I'm looking forward to this experience," he told the club's official TV channel. "Hopefully I can do well and, together, we can do something good.

"Obviously, my coach was Warren Joyce and he spoke about Antwerp a lot so I know lots of things about it. From what he told me, it's a good team and crazy fans, in a good way, so I can't wait to start.

"I didn't know him [Hasselbaink] before I met him but everyone knows about him and it will be good to work with him. Hopefully, he can teach me something good and I can learn."

Petrucci will spend the campaign in Belgium after having a spell with Peterborough last term and is keen to show off his talents.

"I play midfielder and I can play behind the striker sometimes," he added. "Or, when we play 4-3-3, I can be right or left but, as long as I play, I'm happy.

"I just want to play. Obviously, it's a new experience for me and I don't know many things about it but I just want to play."
