Anfield as it happened

ManUtd.com's Adam Marshall reports live from Anfield...

Full time: Liverpool 1 United 0

A disappointing day on Merseyside for David Moyes' team who were unable to respond to Daniel Sturridge's early headed opener. The Reds are now five points behind the arch-rivals from Anfield in the table as Brendan Rodgers' outfit have won all three league games 1-0.

95' Sterling drives forward to force a flying save out of De Gea and that will be that. It's defeat for the Reds at Anfield surely now.

94' Sturridge goes to the deck when backing into Cleverley and time is almost up with Liverpool easily seeing out this additional period. Can United get the ball forward one last time?

92' Sterling wins a foul out of Carrick's challenge and the clock is ticking down.

90' Lucas is booked for conceding a free-kick out on the right. It comes to nothing but there will be five minutes of injury time.

87' That was the chance! Van Persie is put through by Hernandez, the flag rightly stays down but his left-footed drive, on the slide, crashes just wide.

87' Moving into the closing stages and United are still struggling to fashion out a decent opening. For all the possession, there has been little threat this half.

83' Luis Alberto replaces Coutinho, who takes his time walking off. United need some late drama here.

81' Things are just not going United's way as a needless foul by Evra gives the hosts another opportunity to relieve the pressure. Hernandez sprints onto a Nani pass but is stopped in his tracks by Jose Enrique. The Mexican then unloads a snap-shot that is gathered by Mignolet.
