Sir Bobby Charlton is delighted with the way Juan Mata has started his Manchester United career.
The Reds' record signing has settled well into life at Old Trafford after his January arrival from Chelsea, with one of the club's Player of the Month awards already under his belt. He also has three goals to his name; following his maiden strike against Aston Villa, Mata struck twice in the last Barclays Premier League outing at Newcastle United.
After initially admiring the playmaker from afar, United legend Charlton is convinced the Spaniard has what it takes to become a real fans' favourite at his new club.
"I like Juan Mata a lot," Sir Bobby told United Review.
"I must admit I admired him the very first time I saw him play on television, but I did not think we would have the opportunity to sign him. He is a fantastic player already but could go on to become a great one. I'm sure that's his aim.
"In the coming months and years, he will get the opportunity to score and make more goals because he is simply first class. You can already see how much he loves being here and he is a very nice man to go with it."
