Welbeck is important to us

David Moyes has responded to media stories regarding Danny Welbeck’s future by insisting the striker is "really important to Manchester United".

There were claims in the Sunday press that Welbeck could be ready to seek a move away from Old Trafford at the end of the season.

The Manchester-born forward came on for the last 15 minutes of the Reds’ 2-0 defeat to Everton and Moyes was asked afterwards about the rumours.

"Danny Welbeck's really important to me and I really value him," the manager said in his post-match press conference.

"As you well know, there have been lots of stories [in general].

"I can only tell you Danny Welbeck is really important – to me and to Manchester United."
