David Moyes was disappointed to see Manchester United knocked out of the Champions League in Munich on Wednesday but says he’s determined to lead the Reds back into Europe’s premier club competition as soon as possible.
With just five games to play in the Barclays Premier League and United three spots and seven points adrift of automatic entry into next season’s Champions League, it looks likely Moyes will need to wait until 2015/16 for that opportunity.
“That’s how it looks,” Moyes told Sky Sports following the 3-1 (4-2 on aggregate) defeat against Bayern Munich. “But I believe it's not far away. Hopefully it will only be one year where we have to rebuild.
“My focus now is on getting this team back in the competition. It’s a great competition and we’ve really enjoyed it.
“There's no shame going out to Bayern Munich – they are a good side. The players have played really well. We’ll show the quality we’ve got, re-group and start building towards being back in the competition.”
