April has been a mixed month in terms of results for Manchester United with two wins, a draw and two defeats in all competitions.
After reflecting carefully on the action, we have selected a three-man shortlist for the coveted Player of the Month prize…
An ever-present throughout April and comfortable at centre-half and right-back. The England international is growing in stature and, despite conceding a penalty at Everton, has performed admirably of late. Dynamic against Norwich City, he contributed plenty in an attacking sense and set up one of Juan Mata's goals.
The silky Japan star featured in all five games and has illustrated what a classy footballer he is. After helping to terrorise Newcastle United, he was in the next three starting XIs, including a role in the big game at Bayern Munich. Particularly effective when drifting inside and receiving lots of possession.
Feburary's Player of the Month may not have been overly involved, largely due to his ineligibility in the Champions League, but he still contributed four goals. A masterclass at Newcastle was the outstanding display of the period and he came off the bench to great effect against Norwich, even notching a rare header.
