Rooney voted star man

Wayne Rooney was the unanimous choice as Manchester United's Man of the Match against Crystal Palace.

The Reds' no. 10 scored his first goal since Boxing Day, a brilliant strike to compare to the one at Hull City, to finish ahead of Patrice Evra and Adnan Januzaj in the vote on the club's official Twitter account.

MUTV pundits Alex Stepney and Arthur Albiston chose the three-man shortlist after witnessing the 2-0 victory at Selhurst Park but a clear winner soon emerged.

Rooney celebrated his new contract in style with the headline-grabbing strike, showing flawless technique to convert Evra's well-placed cross from the left. It added to Robin van Persie's penalty after Evra was sent crashing by Marouane Chamakh inside the box.

Januzaj, who continues to show great flair and promise, earned his nomination for another daring display on the flanks.
