David Moyes expects a tough test when Manchester United and Swansea meet today in the FA Cup third round.
Moyes, in his notes in the official matchday programme, United Review, has plenty of praise for the Welsh outfit and their recent rise to the top division.
“We welcome Swansea City to Old Trafford today in the first of two games in six days between our clubs, and both meetings should be entertaining spectacles,” Moyes says.
“Swansea have had a remarkable climb in football in recent years, and their progression has been very good. They have an excellent manager in Michael Laudrup and are already involved in European competition after winning the League Cup last year.
“They have advanced to the knockout stages of the Europa League, so we know that we are facing a very good side today.”
Despite staring down the barrel of three games in seven days, Moyes says he’ll go all-out to clinch victory at Old Trafford and progress to the FA Cup fourth round.
“A third-round tie against a Premier League opponent is never a good draw, and it is interesting that today’s match is this club’s 12th straight all-Premier League tie in domestic cups, with a 13th to come against Sunderland on Tuesday [in the Capital One Cup].
