Juan Mata seems set to make his Manchester United debut just three days after completing his transfer from Chelsea.
His new manager David Moyes admitted he'd like the club-record signing to feature in Tuesday's league fixture against Cardiff City at Old Trafford.
Speaking exclusively to MUTV on Saturday, the United boss said: "Juan’s not too far away from [full] fitness. I know he has missed a few games and maybe not started quite as many games as he’d have liked, but I’d like to get him involved against Cardiff."
The Spanish midfielder has already faced Cardiff once this season - he started in Chelsea's 4-1 home win over them on 19 October. Much has changed since then, with the Welsh club now under the new management of United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, while Mata is ready to play for the Reds only a week or so after watching the team from the opposition bench at Stamford Bridge.
"Old Trafford is an unbelievable stadium to play football at," said Mata on Saturday.
"I have been there two or three times but always with rivals and now I have the chance to play there as my home. It's going to be different but it will be great because I know how incredible the fans are there."
Mata scored on his last appearance at Old Trafford, when Chelsea beat United 1-0 in May; he was on the bench for August's 0-0 draw. Notably, he also netted on his debut for the Blues, in their 3-1 victory against Norwich City early in the 2011/12 season.
