Ferdinand: Only victory will do

Rio Ferdinand says only victory will do for Manchester United against Swansea on Saturday.

The champions are without a win in 2014 and have lost vital ground in the Barclays Premier League following three league defeats at home in the last month.

Saturday's opponents Swansea knocked United out of the FA Cup last weekend and will come to Old Trafford full of confidence after their cup scalp. However, Ferdinand insists the players are determined to put recent tough times behind them and rediscover the winning habit at the expense of Michael Laudrup's side.

"It's a huge game for us. We need to win," Ferdinand insisted.

"We need to get our form going and get some momentum. We had a good bit of momentum going before the New Year and then we lost some games. We need to get back on track."

As for the team's aims for the second half of the campaign, the defender said simply: "We want to keep improving, have some consistency and pick up a trophy."

Rio was speaking at the launch of United's new sponsorship agreement with Aperol.
