Manchester United fans around the world have voted Wayne Rooney as their ManUtd.com Player of the Month for December.
The striker was in excellent form at the end of 2013, scoring twice at Spurs, volleying the Reds' Goal of the Month against Hull on Boxing Day - his 150th Premier League strike for the club – and registering four assists in six games.
After receiving his award and a £500 cheque for a charity of his choice, which he donated to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Rooney was asked for his standout moment of the month. Speaking to ManUtd.com, he said: "It was probably Tottenham away: it was 2-2 and I scored two goals.
"It is always a tough game down there and we knew it was going to be difficult. Going behind twice, then coming back, getting a point out of the game and getting two goals was great."
Rooney picked up 52 per cent of the votes from fans on ManUtd.com and its six foreign language versions to beat Danny Welbeck into second place. Chris Smalling was also nominated. It's the third time this season that Wayne has won the accolade and he is on course to equal his best haul of four gongs, claimed in 2009/10.
