Dramatic Dutch victory

heroics kept Arjen Robben at bay.

Javier Hernandez came on as a 75th-minute substitute, while van Persie made way for Huntelaar 60 seconds later. It proved a shrewd substitution by Louis van Gaal, as Huntelaar teed up Sneijder with a clever header to level the scores before winning the game himself from the penalty spot in injury time.

The Netherlands will now face either Greece or Costa Rica in the quarter-finals on Saturday 5 July.
