David De Gea: Derby Q&A

With Tuesday night's derby nearly upon us, United goalkeeper David De Gea has been speaking about the clash with Manchester City to MUTV...

Q: What is the rivalry like between City and United from your perspective? Is it a little bit like the Madrid derby?
A: You could say it’s fairly similar. Obviously both teams are part of the same city, share the same city as their base. Atletico and Real are very, very important and they have lots of rivalry, the same as there is here in this city between the two sides. It’s always a very important three points to win and those games are always very special and a little bit different as a result. For sure, they’re the games that everybody wants to win.

Q: Do you appreciate what it means to the fans, particularly after the first game this season which was obviously a disappointing defeat at Manchester City?
A: We realise that it’s very, very important to the fans of course. And it’s important to get a good result. They will want us to win to put things right because obviously we lost in the first derby of the season at their place. So we want to try to make our own fans happy by getting those three points and you can rest assured we’ll be doing everything we can. We’ve got all the will in the world to try to make that happen on Tuesday night.

Q: In the City side are David Silva, Alvaro Negredo and Jesus Navas. Are you friends with these guys? Do you see them very often?
A: I do see them quite a bit. I know them and,
