Liam Grimshaw is heading for Morecambe after a loan deal was agreed prior to Thursday's transfer deadline.
The versatile 19-year-old defender, who can also operate in a holding role in midfield, is linking up with the Shrimps as part of a double deal after Wigan Athletic left-back Jordan Mustoe arrived earlier in the day.
Grimshaw captained the Reds in the first-ever foray into the UEFA Youth League after previously wearing the armband for Paul McGuinness' Under-18s. The teenager has made two substitute appearances in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League this term.
Meanwhile, Jack Barmby has extended his loan spell with another League Two outfit, Hartlepool United, until the end of the campaign.
