Loans: Powell's late joy

Nick Powell scored in the 88th minute to rescue a 1-1 draw for promotion-chasing Wigan Athletic at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

The on-loan United midfielder smashed home the equaliser from Martyn Waghorn's cutback and the Latics then almost won it, but Jordi Gomez’s last-minute penalty was saved. It was Powell’s 12th goal of the campaign and kept Wigan fifth in the Championship table.

Wilfried Zaha replaced Fabio in the first half of Cardiff City's 3-3 Barclays Premier League draw with West Bromwich Albion and had a big influence on the game, setting up a 95th-minute equaliser for ex-Red Mats Daehli.

Michael Keane netted his first goal for Blackburn Rovers and conceded a penalty in a 2-2 away draw with Millwall in the Championship.

Defender Keane headed home Craig Conway's corner in the 65th minute to make it 1-1 but then hauled down Simeon Jackson, who converted from the spot to put Millwall back in front. Rovers, who earlier had Grant Hanley sent off, equalised again in stoppage time through former Reds striker Josh King.

Federico Macheda scored twice but could not prevent Birmingham from slipping to a 4-2 home defeat to Bournemouth. The Italian frontman fired home a low left-footed shot and a 20-yard volley in the second half, while Tyler Blackett also played the full 90 minutes.
