Thorpe to rejoin Blues

Birmingham City have agreed a deal to re-sign Manchester United defender Tom Thorpe on an emergency loan for the remainder of the Championship season.

The 2011 FA Youth Cup-winning captain had his previous stint at St Andrew's cruelly ended when he sustained an ankle ligament injury in the early stages of his debut against Derby County on 1 February.

After returning to action ahead of schedule, for United's Lancashire Senior Cup tie with Bolton Wanderers, the centre-back has missed the last two Under-21 outings.

Birmingham boss Lee Clark is clearly an admirer of Warren Joyce's squad as he took Jesse Lingard on loan earlier in the campaign and currently has Tyler Blackett and Federico Macheda in his ranks.

Thorpe is in contention to feature against Bournemouth on Saturday.
