Despite the transfer window being closed, the tabloids continue to link United with a big-money summer swoop for Atletico Madrid captain Fernando Torres.
The Spanish international striker has long been painted as a target for Sir Alex Ferguson, and rumours emanating from Spain suggest that he could be set to leave La Liga in the summer.
Atletico sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch was quoting as saying: "To hold on to Fernando Torres, a product of the youth system seems virtually impossible."
As that long-running saga continues apace, so too does that of Cristiano Ronaldo. Despite United's repeated insistence that the winger is going nowhere, Europe's top clubs continue to voice their interest in him.
Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan have all been linked with the 22-year-old, but United insist no sale will take place at any price.
Another transfer rumour from Spain concerns Racing Santander centre-back Ezequiel Garay. On 20 February, the Daily Mail quoted the 20 year-old Argentinian as saying: "It's a real joy that a team as big as Manchester has noticed me."
